Aba Daba

Aba Daba is a really nice version of the ancient game Gomoku. The objective of the game is to place five of your game pieces in a row, while the computer opponent tries to do the same. While this might sound easy, it actually requires quite some skill and strategy to win, especially on larger boards. Aba Daba supports five board sizes, eight skins, seven languages and three difficulty levels. Overall, the game is very nicely designed and really worth a look.
Version 1.31 adds support for some additional languages and fixes some bugs.

Alex the Allegator 2
Alex the Allegator 2 (spelled with an e) is a "gem." Although the graphics and sound are nice, the real impressive thing about this board game is its originality. I've never seen anything quite like it. In this game, your goal is to remove as many groups of tokens as possible. To remove tokens, simply create a group of same-colored tokens. This game has a high score table and the option to play single or two player. A quite enjoyable game. This game is best when played with a friend.

Atakks
The nicest thing about this 2-player board game is the graphics and the animations of the markers. But without a regular game menu and other vitals, this game's value deflates quickly. The game rules are in French only. Note: If you need the required file SDL.DLL, it can be downloaded from the author's homepage.

Bank It!
This small game is based on the High-Low Number Guessing Game: Guess if the number shown is higher or lower, and win points if you guess right.
This game has a nice little extra feature that makes it a rather more interesting game: As you collect points, they go into a point ladder (10 points, then 20, 50, and so on). At any time, you can "bank" the points into your permanent point score. The more guesses you get right, the higher your ladder goes and the more you can "bank". But, one wrong guess, and the ladder resets to 10 points.
As you can tell, this game is more based on odds and luck than anything else. That's the nature of High-Low Number Guessing.
The timer makes all the difference, though. You only have 1 minute to collect points. You can only hold points on your ladder for 3 seconds without making a guess, then it resets on you. Now the gameplay turns into a fast and furious competition, to see how fast and far a player could get in that 1 minute of time.
The Multiplayer mode adds all new incentives to the gameplay. Now with an opponent to beat (over the Internet or a network), the gameplay gets even more dymanic: do you Bank often, and thus collect points more often, or take the chance for more points and try to take the lead?
A fun, quick, and tiny (only 200k) game that should provide a nice challenge for speed gamers of all ages. Let the Banking begin!
PC REQUIREMENTS: Windows 95/98/ME/XP, Visual Basic Runtime |
